Objectives

1- Any and all things possible to protect and to promote human rights of exotic dancers.

2- Preventing the degradation of working conditions in adult industry parlours.

3- Ending the financial exploitation of exotic dancers.

4- Assisting in the development of health and safety regulations for adult entertainment parlours.

5- Developing educational campaigns and information material outlining the legal and labor rights of exotic dancers under existing legislation.

6- Providing a non-threatening environment for exchange and discussion of issues related to exotic dancers and their working environment.

History

EDRAC was founded in April 2007 when the DANCERS' EQUAL RIGHTS ASSOCIATION (DERA)
OF OTTAWA-CARLETON  merged with the
EXOTIC DANCERS ASSOCIATION OF CANADA (EDAC).
Both organizations had municipal mandates and over the years of collaborating on issues together it was decided by the exotic dancers that the need of exotic dancers across Canada would be better served with one nationally mandated organization.
In October 2007, EDRAC held their first annual general meeting (AGM) and elected a new Board of Directors
and new corporate bylaws.
The Board of Directors is comprised of exotic dancer majority at all times to ensure the voice of exotic dancers
is always present.

The current Board has 7 members
consisting of 5 exotic dancers
2 lawyers
and a MA student
with extensive board experience.
